4.1     Demonstrate good health and safety practice when working on film productions

Health and safety are important because when filmmakers shot a film any shot might include violence or cause harm, especially if the scene is violent or the location is not safe the actors could damage while shooting, therefore filmmakers care about health and safety.

The key issues relating to film production is location (set), weather and film equipment’s. If the location is not safe to shoot the actors could fall or they could be damaged. If you’re shooting in a bad weather for example; rainy, icy, windy or sunny situations your actors health and safety is in danger.

Before I start shooting my film, I wrote all the issues might cause a risk while filming a shot. I made a risk assessment and in my risk assessment I explained all the risks and how the actors can handle the risks. The main issues were the lighting, wire and electric and I explained them to care about their health and safety from these risks.

4.2   Explain why copyright is important in the film industry

Copyright is a law that gives the owner of a work the right to say how other people can use it. Copyright laws are existed because copy right make it easier for creators to make money by selling their works. Copyright helps the authors to be protected from being re-copied of their works without permission and/or re-copying their works for commercial purpose.

Copyright law protects original artwork of authorship including literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works, such as poetry, novels, movies, songs, computer software, and architecture. If I use copyrighted material in my film or for commercial without permission of the creator, the court might prohibit me for not use any artwork without permission, and I might pay back the money to the original creator. But I can use some part of copyrighted work, because I have a right to use copyrighted work under copyright law and it’s called ‘fair deal’.

If you make an original film, you can easily understand what you make. But the easiest way is to make sure that people watch your film before published, so they can see similarities or copyrighted content and they can tell you which one you are copied.

Me and my team was created an original work, but we used a music which is free to use for any kind of artwork unless you don’t use for commercial purpose. So, copyright law affected our film and we understand that we should make an original sound effects and music.
